TOGETHER, WE CAN INFLUENCE DECISIONS TO:
- REDUCE THREATS TO BIODIVERSITY
- SHARE THE BENEFITS OF BIODIVERSITY
- INCREASE SOLUTIONS, GOVERNANCE, MANAGEMENT AND EDUCATION
Canada is advocating for international collaboration via the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework to conserve and protect 30% of all land and oceans by 2030.
Canada also aims to move 60% of species at risk away from extinction by 2025.
Right now, less than 14% of land and water is protected and there's no clear plan on how the 30% target will be reached.
Tell the Government that Canada needs Federal biodiversity legislation as a priority, which acknowledges that halting and reversing biodiversity loss requires collaboration and partnership with Indigenous Peoples, the original guardians of the land; innovative approaches; adequate funding and a proper accounting for the true value of nature within all sectors of the economy.
