As POW Ambassadors you are committed to taking action against climate change and helping us turn outdoor enthusiasts into effective climate advocates. In return, we make the following commitments to you:
Taking Action: Created with intention and backed by policy and science that will make a difference in the fight against climate change, we will develop campaigns that will both make a difference and be exciting for you to help amplify.
Education: We’ll help you become more informed climate advocates, by providing you with a quarterly newsletter that highlights new issues, environmental policy, science and ways that ambassadors can take action.
Communication: We’ll streamline our communication by asking for your input on how you want to engage with POW, and reaching out with opportunities that are specific to your interests and skill set. We will use new social media tools like Wooly to make accessing campaign information as easy as possible.
Resources: We’ll build out high quality resources that you can use to share POW’s message- such as slide decks for presentations at events, assets for campaigns, and information about Climate Change that you can share with your friends and followers.
Amplification: We will amplify ambassador stories/posts with environmental messaging on all of our channels as frequently as possible. We will provide a platform for online storytelling through Instagram takeovers and blog posts. We will provide captive audiences to hear your messages at live and virtual events. We'll connect you with our Regional Chapters that can provide people power to help amplify your messages in specific regions across
Canada. We’ll provide promotional support for your projects that carry an environmental message on our social channels and website. We will seek partner alignment that is mutually beneficial for you as an ambassador and POW with major brands in the outdoor industry.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: POW Canada’s mission is to unite and organize the outdoor community to take action against climate change. When we say the outdoor community, we mean EVERYONE who appreciates and enjoys the outdoors regardless of gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, age, neurodiversity, disability, status, citizenship, or any other aspect which makes them unique. To date, our stories and content have lacked representation of many communities. We recognize that embracing diversity, equity and inclusion in the outdoor space are integral to solving climate change. The more opportunities there are available for participation in the outdoors for ALL, the more passionate enthusiasts will be with us in our fight to save and protect it.That’s why we are committed to increasing diversity, equity and inclusion in the outdoors and in the fight against climate change. We are starting with educating our ambassadors on unconscious bias and privilege and actively recruiting new ambassadors who are representative of the BIPOC members of our outdoor community. We will continue our efforts by increasing the visibility of the above mentioned populations in our content and campaigns, and consciously supporting groups that to and reflect the diverse outdoor community of Canada.
